Desc: ************************************************************** This registration is for the final tournaments in the series of the 88 PALMS GRAND PRIX an Adult and Scholastic Chess Tournament. PLEASE NOTE VENUE CHANGE: at the Tideline Palm Beach Ocean Resort and Spa located at 2842 S Ocean Blvd, Palm Beach, FL 33480. Students will be competing in sections based on age (K-1, K-3, K-5, K-8, K-12). Students may play up into older sections but it is recommended that they play within their age group unless they are experienced tournament players. ************************************************************** The tournament consist of two time controls: for the K-1, K-3, K-5, and K-8 Sections: 5 games of G/25;5. Round times are sharp: 10:00am, 11:15am, 12:45pm, 2:00pm, 3:00pm with the awards ceremony following the completion of the last game. The second time control is for the K-12 and OPEN Sections which consist of 3 games of G/45;5. Round times: 10:15am, 12:30pm, 2:30pm. ************************************************************** Entry fee: $35, included into the entry fee two slices of pizza, chips and a drink. Entry fee goes up as of Wednesday at midnight to $45. Scholastic Prizes: Trophy to the top finisher in each section, medals to places two through five. Top team prize in each section, minimum of three teams, minimum of three players for a team. OPEN Section is an Adult Tournament, in order to play in this section the player must be at least 18 or older or have a minimum rating of 1600. Cash Prizes for winners in the Open Section based on collected entries. 1st: 25% 2nd: 15% 3rd: 10%, TOP U1800: 10%, TOP U1300: 10% Chess players rated 2200+ play for free with entry fee deducted from prize won. For the adult three round tournament for registration click 12 on grade and type NA for school. The Grand Prix winners, 1st Place Overall Winners, will be found by calculating the points earned in each section combining the total score of each player's results from all four tournaments. ************************************************************** Requirements: All players must be current US Chess Members to compete. Registration for the tournament is online only and needs to be completed before registration close. We will be providing USCF MEMBERSHIPS FOR NEW SCHOLASTIC PLAYERS (this is typically a $20+ dollar value we are providing as part of your entry fee).
